PROJECTS
Each year the local board in San Juan de Oriente, Los Hermanos de Sacramento, submits prioritized project proposals for community infrastructure improvements and educational & cultural programs, to the Sacramento board of directors. Los Hermanos is comprised of a diverse group of members from the San Juan community, including potters, educators, and small business owners. After careful consideration, the Friends of San Juan de Oriente approves and funds the projects.
MURAL PAINTING
To add beauty to the environment,
local artisans of San Juan de Oriente painted two distinctive and amazing murals on prominent walls in the community. The Friends of San Juan de Oriente provided funding for paint and the associated supplies.

HEALTH CLINIC IMPROVEMENTS
The Friends of San Juan de Oriente funded an annex for disabled children at the neighborhood health center. Additionally, since that time, hospital beds have been purchased for the clinic.
ANNUAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Higher education is a top priority in the
San Juan de Oriente community. Annually, since the 1990s, scholarships have been awarded to well-deserving students for university and professional training.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OUTDOOR DINING FACILITY
The Friends of San Juan de Oriente provided funding for the design and construction of a much-needed, all-weather dining facility for the local elementary school.

The Friends of San Juan de Oriente provided funds for the purchase and application of a new floor, window, and much-needed paint in a local school.
REPAIR/REPLACEMENT
EARTHQUAKE-DAMAGED KILNS
The Friends of San Juan de Oriente provided funds to the community potters for kiln refurbishment and/or replacement.
FOLKLORIC DANCE APPAREL
It was a privilege for the Friends of San Juan to provide funding for the purchase of folkloric apparel for cultural dancers.
SCHOOL WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
Friends of San Juan de Oriente was pleased to be able to provide funding for a wheelchair ramp/access area for the local elementary school auditorium.
COMMUNITY SOCCER JERSEYS
The local soccer team, the Amigos de Sacramento, enjoyed new jerseys with funding from the Friends of San Juan de Oriente.
LA ESCUELA PARROQUIAL
New windows and a beautiful tile floor were installed in this parroquial school as part of the Friends of San Juan de Oriente's ongoing local improvements.
HEALTH CLINIC IMPROVEMENTS
Through post-pandemic pottery sales, the Friends of San Juan de Oriente funded a much needed air conditioner for the San Juan de Oriente Women's Health Clinic.
